Participate in an exhilarating tug-of-war contest on the day of the harvest moon

Large-scale tug-of-war events are a hallmark of Okinawan festivals, and Itoman’s takes place on the day of the harvest moon in the lunar calendar. Follow a procession of flag bearers as they lead traditional dancers and performers in the Michijune parade, and watch youths dressed as figures from Okinawan folklore face off before the tugging begins.
