Celebrate the abundant gifts of nature on Taketomi Island through traditional performing arts

For more than 600 years, the people of Taketomi Island have prayed for the bountiful growth of crops at the Tanadui Festival—the largest event on Taketomi Island. Enjoy two days of around 80 traditional performing arts that include comic kyogen plays and dances dedicated to deities as you explore the island. The festival is registered as an Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property of Japan.
